Hello Rajesh Sir, Although I do not have much info about the guidelines from Maharashtra Board, the careers after class XII Science are slowly opening up for the blind. I myself want to pursue Computer Engineering. Although, initially the authorities were very reluctant, now people and technical institutes are slowly becoming more open and receptive to visually challenged students pursuing engineering or any other Science-based course for that matter. In fact, the IITs have laid down guidelines for their entrance examination with a view to provide the visually impaired with an equal opportunity to compete. CBSE for the All India Engineering Entrance Examination have also laid down some provisions (including the services of an amanuensis, extra time etc.), though they have also stipulated some restrictive conditions as regards scribe.
Nevertheless, despite all these challenges, I feel that if one is interested in Science, one should go for it. As it is, Computer Engineering and Electronic Engineering have been identified as suitable jobs by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for the blind students. As of now, no blind student has ventured in Pure Sciences, and institutes as of now do not admit totally blind students for these courses. Hope this helps, Regards, -Kartik On 6/15/12, Asudani, Rajesh <[email protected]> wrote: > Friends > As the trailing mail told you yesterday, a totally blind girl in Nagpur has > secured 93.45% in SSC. > She has studied in an english medium school for sighted, where they agreed > to retain her when we intervened at the time of her loosing her sight about > four years back. > She has given her school exams through computer. > Now, I think she should study science in her twelfth and should take up any > challenging career of her choice. > So, I would like to know: > Are there any guidelines for practicals in twelfth science issued by > maharashtra board of secondary and higher secondary education? > If, yes, please anybody provide them. > > Any overview of careers for a totally blind student after twelfth science? > Provided one has spirit to take up challenges? > > Rajesh > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Asudani, > Rajesh > Sent: Thursday, June 14, 2012 11:41 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [AI] Maharashtra SSC result, TOI Coverage disabled students > > Cancer stole her vision but Bhakti remained resolved > > > NAGPUR: She lost one of her eyes as an infant due to > cancer<http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Cancer> and another one at > the age of 14, but Bhakti > Ghatole<http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Bhakti-Ghatole> kept true > to her name and never lost faith.
