does ms outlook work as well as outlook express? if so,
could you please explain how to check and send mails with the help of screen
reader?

Configuring your gmail account in Ms Outlook 2007 is so simple.
Connect to your Internet and follow the steps below:
1. Open the Run window with WINDOWS KEY+R, type outlook and press ENTER.
2. The Outlook wizard pops up for you to configure your email account.
Select POP3 if prompted to choose an email service and click Next.
3. Enter your name, email address and password on the next screen,
keep the check box that reads "manually configure server settings or
additional server types" unchecked and click Next.
4. It may take a while to configure your email account automatically
and would present a Finish screen. Click the Finish button and you're
