Hello Shreyas

I will be happy to know more about bookshare issue of cost. The membership
is Rs. 400 for entire year for any number of books that you can read with a
choice of about 60000 books. Most libraries which provide free membership
would still charge cost of CD or media on which book is sent. Bookshare
doesn't have this cost as you can easily download the book directly on
computer or on android based phones or tablets.

If you find Rs. 400 as annual cost to be higher, then Saksham offers
bookshare books to you at the cost of Rs. 30 per book. In this case you can
identify the book that you want and Saksham will download this book on your
behalf and send it to you by e-mail.

Another huge benefit of bookshare books are that these are not just scanned
books but these have been proofread. This is completely unparallel scale and
quality. Huge amount of these books come directly from publisher files which
mean with no errors in the text. Members are alo getting free of cost tools
to read these books in wonderful TTS. If you are looking for quality, ease
of use and to be able to get books of choice, what would be your expectation
of cost at which such a service can be made available? Do not mention free
as free is not sustainable nor it is valued.

Saksham does provide free membership for all other types of books such as
its talking book collection. In fact, you can go to www.daisyindia.org and
have a look at list of member organisations. Each of this member can provide
books produced at any organisation in the country. Common catalogue of books
available by different organisations is available at www.oblindia.org. Each
library mentioned in list of members have their own policy for cost of
membership or cost per book to end users.

In any case, none of these libraries is taking actual cost of reproduction
of book in accessible format which runs into thousands of rupees per book.

Thanks
Dipendra
