For starters humor doesn’t question anyone’s dignity according to me.
Talking about poking fun at SCST, aren’t the politicians doing that
day-in day-out? In the name of support and upliftment it’s a
subsidized mockery. Well! That’s a different issue all together and in
a country where governance is driven by ‘issue-based politics’ the
condemnable acts sit pretty around the television of our living rooms.
Coming back to the topic: Subhash is absolutely right that we need to
reinforce the measures, but shouting about it is going to yield us
Anna Hazare of July 2012. It needs to be addressed amidst a different
background. Again, my concern with voicing against this specific issue
was backed by a very simple fact of the situation being a comedy show.
Secondly we can ask the television programmers to include a mandate in
their protocol, or have a disclaimer in the beginning of the show,
which according to me is a MUST saying “The acts and opinions of the
performers, judges and other participants is purely for entertainment
and the content seeks to hurt, distress, downplay and demean any cast,
secular set, association of persons, differently-abled, and any other
clusters formed on the basis of community, race, income, gender, age
and nationality.”
