I suggest that you get non-disabled friends, colleagues,, bosses and teachers to attend this program. This can really change their outlook towards people with visual impairment. This program ends tomorrow evening. Formal invite given below. I am writing to you on behalf of Xavier's Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged (XRCVC), St. Xavier's College and Saksham Trust, Delhi. The XRCVC is a support and advocacy centre involved in awareness initiatives for the visually challenged. The Saksham Trust is an NGO based in Delhi - a pioneer in providing IT solutions to the blind. Antarchakshu - The Eye Within TM, is conducted by the XRCVC, an event which provides an opportunity to the larger community to not just experience and explore the world of the disabled, but understand it; a world which is not that different. Antarchakshu creates a simulated environment which gives a chance to its participants to be in the world of the disabled. It takes approximately an hour for the entire experience. It is our pleasure to announce that Antarchakshu is being presented for the first time at the national level in collaboration with the Equal Opportunity Office (EOO) of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi and Saksham Trust, New Delhi. This event is being supported by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India through the National Institute for the Visually Handicapped (NIVH) Dehradun, a premier Institute in the field of visual disability working under the administrative control of the Ministry. Antarchakshu at Delhi will be organized by the XRCVC as part of its national level advocacy project - Project Access: An XRCVC - Sightsavers Initiative. Sightsavers works towards eliminating avoidable blindness and promote equal opportunities for disabled people. Antarchakshu 2012 at JNU, New Delhi is being held as a 3 day mega event on the 4th, 5th & 6th of October 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the JNU Convention Centre. The event will reach out to educators, Government officials, employers, students, Corporates, media, social workers and the public at large to spread the message of inclusiveness. We would be very glad to have you attend the event and hence, request you to kindly reserve some time on either of the above mentioned dates. Please convey this message to all those you feel would benefit from the experience. We assure you that this is one of the best opportunities for sensitizing your staff towards the nees and capabilities of persons with disabilities. Participation is free and takes typically one and a half hour. You will have the opportunity to see an exhibition of best technological solutions available and a totally disabled friendly talking ATM machine. And the major attraction are the more than half a dozen activities and games that will help you understand persons with disabilities in a better way. It will be our great pleasure to have you participate in Antarchakshu 2012 at JNU, New Delhi. In case of any queries, please feel free to contact us.
