I had similar experience with HDFC bank about 5 years back. Private banks
seem more hospitable. The only problem is that I closed this account as I
did not have to carry out the minimum number of transactions required by
HDFC bank.

I just wanted to share my experience of opening a bank account.
I chose ICICI bank, they have a service where in one of their employees
comes to your house and fills the paper and basically handles all the
formalities required to open an account.
The ICICI representative who came, was very polite, and had absolutely no
issues with my visual impairment. She showed me the places where i had to
sign.
For the initial amount required to open a bank account, since we did not
have cash at home, my mother wrote a bearers cheque to me and the ICICI
rep and myself went to the closest ICICI branch and she handled all the
formalities there too.
I got all my cards, passwords, etc. No inappropriate questions asked.
I have read some bad experiences of people relating to bank, so i thought
i
should share this good experience. Hope it helps!
