Hi,

1. Grab a Linux live cd. GRML works nicely.
2. Boot from that and see if you can access the device.

3. If you can, pull the files from the drive. If you can't, make a
forensically safe image using the dd utility and then experiment on that
image.

one of my hard disk drive which was formatted with NTFS with about 600 GB is
shown as not formatted in "my computer". I have about 180 GB of data on that
drive. please guide me so as to how to get the data back. I googled for the
data recovery softwares. but most of them are sharewares and cost heavily.
