Hi, 1. Grab a Linux live cd. GRML works nicely. 2. Boot from that and see if you can access the device.
3. If you can, pull the files from the drive. If you can't, make a forensically safe image using the dd utility and then experiment on that image. You may also find the following podcasts helpful.
