this is a very important question. but alas! I did not get the answer. mouse users can easily do it. but for keyboard users with screen readers I was unable to find a way for moving or resizing a chart in excel. if anybody has an idea, please share it. I think moving may not be difficult as we can use arrow keys. but resizing is really a challenge. also one more problem is selecting a chart which is not on its own sheet. i.e. a chart which is floating over a data sheet. suppose you are in a cell on a worksheet where there one or two charts on the sheet. how do you select a chart using only keyboard?

dear shona,
as the moderator directed, we have to change the subject and start a new
thread when the matter changes.

the following steps explain how to create a pie chart in M S Excel:
1. create the data table in excel which need to be charted by entering the
data.
2. select your data table.
3. go to insert menu (alt I).
4. choose chart wizard (h).
5. the 4 step chart wizard dialog opens. in the 1st step, you have to choose
chart type. you get a list box. choose "pie" from the types of chart.
6. press tab and choose subtypes of pie chart. as you navigate using arrows, jaws will read the subtype description. if you are confused on this, simply
choose the 1st one.
7. hit enter or choose next button.
8. the second step is selection of data source. as you have selected the
cell range in step 2, the cell range automatically appear in the data source
box. other wise, you have to type it manually. you need not worry about
other options in this step in a normal situation.
9. choose next button.
10. the 3rd step is chart options. here you can enter a title for your
chart, choose the legend, data labels on the chart, etc.
note: each step in this wizard is a multi page dialog. so, if you want more
options and details, you can explore by pressing ctrl tab. but most of the
situations do not warrant that except in the 3rd step.
11. the 4th step after clicking next button is on the chart location. it
asks whether you want the chart to be placed on the same sheet or a new
sheet.
12. if you press enter or choose finish button, your chart will be ready.

hope the above clarifies your query. feel free to ask if you find anything
difficult.

happy charting
Umesha

Dear pranav,

Pragmatically it is possible to draw flow chart objects, remember I had
discussed the binary encoding that we got. Also the user need not know
any
of the stuff how internally it's happening.

It's a simple application that we are also using in the graphic display
where one needs to select the auto shape give size parameters and its
inserted in a doc file. I shall send you a sample vb program
immediately,
you do check it.

Warm regards,

Kiran

Dear Shreyas,

In a word you cannot make flowcharts in Microsoft office. I had
explored
this briefly and may revisit it in the future.

To make a flowchart, you need to drop controls into a word document. I
have
not found a keyboard friendly way of doing this. That does not mean
that
it
does not exist. You may have to create macros to drop controls but I
am
not
sure.

An extremely tedious way of building a flowchart would be to use
vector
drawing and then insert that image into your document.
