Subject: [AI] Aarthi: Good News In Mauritius for Disabled Graduates

Dear All,

I hope that it is not too late to wish you all a happy new year 2013
and a mankal sankranti.

The Minister of Finance in Mauritius in November 2012 during the
reading out of the full budget applicable for 2013 has announced 2
important measures concerning disabled persons.

The first measure is about the introduction of the Service to
Mauritius Program. In this program the Government puts 300 young
graduates on placement for 2 years in the public sector. The placement
is renewable for 1 year. The placement will be in Ministries and
government institutions. 10% of the seats, that is, 30 seats in the
Service to Mauritius Program is reserved to Disabled Graduates. Thus,
30 disabled graduates in Mauritius will find job in the public sector
this year. I have already enrolled in this program and my name has
been retained. Disabled persons having a Masters also are included in
the program. Our salary has already been sorted out and is a quite
interesting one.

The second budgetary measure is more specifically to blind people. It
has been announced in the budget 2013 that every blind student
independent of age will receive a Braille Computer from the
government. The Minister of Finance whom I have met and also the
Minister of Social Security are encouraging me to apply to obtain my
Braille equipment. I have applied and the Ministry of Finance is
working on my demand.

I hope that the Indian Government is working things right also in
India for you guys.

Aarthi
