Greetings from the Blind Graduates' Forum of India (BGFI). This month we bring to you demonstration of assistive technology by BarrierBreak Technologies. Assistive Technology can be an enabler in the lives of persons with visual impairment. The prime objective with the use of assistive technology is to provide the end-user with the option to manage independently to the extent possible in the areas of education or employment or leisure activities. In this two hour session, BarrierBreak would like to provide a comprehensive exposure to state-of-the-art low vision and blind devices and their importance in helping people with vision impairment to maintain quality of life and independence. Salient Features: Integrating various assistive technology in the classroom and resource centres Demo of various products such as Screen Reader, Braille Displayer, magnifiers, scan & read tools specifically adapted for use with those who are blind or have vision impairment An opportunity to explore various assistive technology products Confidence building through independent living aid such as Touch Memo, PowerTV Glasses etc. An overview on accessible gaming and demo of some accessible games for the blind Date : Saturday, April 27, 2013.
