Sub:  8th Onkyo Braille Essay Contest in the Asian Region.

Dear colleagues,

Asian Blind Union’s Secretariat has informed us that they propose to
hold 8th Onkyo Braille Essay Contest in collaboration with Braille
Mainichi Newspaper Company, Japan in the Asian region.  Information in
this regard has recently been received from the Secretariat.
Participants who are interested to take part in the essay contest,
they should send their essays to All India Confederation of the Blind,
Behind Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital, Sector-5, Delhi-110085 latest by
31st May, 2013.  No essay thereafter shall be accepted.  On the
envelop name of the competition (Onkyo Braille Essay Competition) must
be mentioned.

The detailed rules and procedure for the Contest are given below:

(i)     The participants can write on any one of the following topics in
Hindi or English:

a)      Inclusive society for persons with visual impairment, How?
(Drishtibadhit vyakatiyon ke liye samaveshi samaj—Kaise?)
b)      Access to information and knowledge resources, are there priorities
and how? (Gyan aur soochna ke sadhno tak pahunch--prathmiktaen hain
aur Kaisa?
c)      What are your priorities as a political international leader, how?
(Ek anterashtriya netaa ke roop mein aap kee kya prathmiktaen hain aur
kaisa?)
d)      Social media and blind community. (Samajik media aur drishtibadhit 
samuday).

(ii)    The Essay should be written by the blind participants in English
or Hindi in Braille on Braille slate or Braille typewriters and not on
computers.

(iii)             Maximum length of the Essay should not exceed to
1200 words.  The Essay should also include   applicant's name, age,
title and other details to be covered within the maximum number of
words (1200) allowed.

(iv)            There will be two groups of competitors—one Junior
group up to the age of 25 years and the second Senior group above the
age of 25 years. We suggest that the visually impaired participants
from junior group should also be motivated to participate in the
context.

v) The Essays must be completely original in nature.

vi)      The Competition has separate prizes for junior and senior groups.

a)      First prize of USD 1000 for overall best entry from senior or junior 
group.
b)      Second prize of USD 500 for one winner from senior group and one
winner from junior group.
c)      Third prize of USD 200 for one winner from senior group and one
winner from junior group.

You are requested to give widest possible publicity to this event so
that Indian participants could take part and win the prizes.
