Subject: Charudatta Jadhav Receives Godfrey Phillips Bravery Awards

Here is news of a fellow TCS employee.

Charudatta Jadhav, Head of Innovation Strategy, CTO Enable Team has been 
honoured with the 'Godfrey Phillips Bravery Awards in the category : 'Mind of 
Steel' for his career achievements.  At a glittering ceremony held in Hotel 
Trident, Mumbai, on 02 April, Charudatta received the award. The Godfrey 
Phillips Bravery Awards were instituted in 1990 to ensure that no act of 
bravery by a citizen went unsung or overlooked. Over the past two decades, the 
Bravery Awards have honoured over 1200 brave hearts. This year 12 individuals 
have received this prestigious award from the states of Maharashtra, Goa, 
Karnataka and Kerala.

Charudatta Jadhav has represented India on various international chess 
championships. He has developed Talk 64, first-of-its-kind chess training and 
gaming software for the blind to improve their gaming skills. He has also 
developed an online digital library and training portal for chess. Overcoming 
his visual challenge, in March 1992, Jadhav successfully scaled the 17,220 feet 
high peak Shitidhar. He received the National Award for Best Disabled Employee, 
2006 from the former President of India, Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam.
Since inception, the Godfrey Phillips Bravery award has grown to encompass 20 
Indian states.  The zonal awards will be followed by the National Awards, which 
will take place in Delhi.
