Positions Available @ ABILITY
The School of Social Sciences (SSS) is implementing the project
ABILITY with financial assistance from the Government of Kerala. The
project seeks to create an academic environment accessible to
physically challenged, especially the visually impaired researchers
and students, and is the first such in a state university.  The
project also envisages conducting training sessions in assistive
technologies for visually impaired researchers and students from
within and outside the state and to cater to the needs of
visually-impaired researchers and students of Humanities and Social
Sciences world-wide through ABILITY: An Audio Journal of Humanities
and Social Sciences Research.
We require an Academic Coordinator and a Joint Coordinator/Trainer,
tenable for two years, subject to confirmation after the first six
months.
Academic Coordinator
Tasks: Assist the Project Leader in all matters relating to the
project; manage the ABILITY website; look after financial transactions
and everyday accounts; write research grant proposals and reports;
coordinate training sessions by inviting experts in assistive
technologies; direct the functioning of the Joint Coordinator/Trainer;
prepare and disseminate audio-files; assist in content development of
the proposed audio journal.
Eligibility requirements (Essential):  M Phil or Ph D in Arts,
Humanities, or Social Sciences; postgraduates in these disciplines or
in Management Studies with proven experience or potential shall also
be considered; advanced proficiency in the English language.
Preferred additional requirements: Knowledge of assistive technologies
for visually impaired persons.
Age limit: 40 years.
Remuneration: Rs. 25000/- per month (Consolidated).

Joint Coordinator/Trainer
Tasks:  Assist the Project Leader and the Academic Coordinator in all
matters relating to the project; conduct training sessions in
assistive technologies initially with the help of experts and
subsequently independently; assist the physically challenged
researchers and students in consulting libraries and archives and in
field-work.
Eligibility requirements (Essential):  Bachelor’s degree in Computer
Sciences or post-graduate degree in Arts, Humanities, Management
Studies or Social Sciences; excellent oral and written skills in the
English language.
Preferred additional requirements: Experience as a trainer in
assistive technologies for visually impaired persons; knowledge of
spoken Malayalam.
Age limit: 30 years.
Remuneration: Rs. 15000/- per month (Consolidated).


Terms and Conditions
Eligibility conditions remaining the same, preference shall be given
to candidates from SC/ST communities for both the positions, and
especially to visually-impaired persons for the position of Joint
Coordinator/Trainer.
If confirmed in employment at the end of the first six months, the
candidate would be required to sign a bond agreeing to continue in
employment till the end of the project period or two years whichever
is earlier.
Short-listed candidates may be called for an interview in July-August
2013 for which we assure 3 AC rail fare.
