Dear Naveen,

Thanks for sharing this. I am also sharing this and my response to
accessindians.

I am sorry to say that the way the writer has maintained a complete
silence about key demands, namely the introduction of a bridge course
and shifting maths and science related foundation courses to the
second year can not be a simple omission, particularly when he is
fully aware about them. I am Kean to know whether it is a result of
editorial expunging or something else? Further, this letter, at least
as published in the Hindu, does not make any reference about the time
frame that is required to make such provisions: whether DU can make
them in such a short span of time? If not now, whether these will be
attended with the importance they deserve once things become
normalized. However, this letter is very important as it tells to the
entire world that blind persons can and should study maths and science
related courses if proper arrangements have been made. My worry is
about the timing when this statement has been printed, about which I
am not too sure. It should not happen that DU formally allows blind to
study these subjects however practically excludes them by not
providing adequate arrangements, which is very likely. It will thus
repeat the same story that we all are too familiar in the schools.

Best

Vikas
