Job Description: Outreach and Training Coordinator The passage of the Indian Copyright (Amendment) Act presents an exciting opportunity to increase the availability of books for the visually impaired. Two outreach/training coordinators are wanted to represent a joint project of Bookshare, Saksham Trust, Worth Trust, and XRCVC. One person will work in the North (based in Delhi) and one in the South (location flexible). The specific regions will depend on the people hired.
Responsibilities: . Act as local representative in your assigned geographic area. . Conduct outreach to schools, colleges, universities, NGOs and rehabilitation organizations serving the needs of the visually impaired, mobility impaired and learning disabled. . Schedule and conduct face-to-face trainings on digital accessible books and Bookshare. . Increase new Bookshare members and retain existing members by assisting with registration and ongoing use. . Track metrics and report to Bookshare US on a weekly basis. Metrics include number of contacts, number of new and renewing members, and number of trainings. . Work closely with partner organizations in India to take advantage of existing relationships and established strategies. . Track requests for content and contact publishers for electronic files. . Conduct periodic focus groups and surveys of existing members. . Attend and present at conferences and seminars on disability. . Identify new marketing opportunities. . Handle special projects and requests as needed. Skills Required: . Excellent verbal and written communication skills. . Excellent interpersonal skills. . Excellent organizational and time management skills. . Ability to work independently and with little supervision . Must have own computer, internet connection and transportation. . Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and standard Internet tools. . Knowledge of and empathy for the challenges faced by people with print disabilities. . Knowledge of assistive technology such as NVDA, JAWS, and Kurzweil highly desirable. . Ability to travel all over India at short notice. . Prior experience in non-profit/social services a plus. . Positive attitude-tends to see challenges as opportunities. . Relentless drive for results and sense of urgency. . Service-oriented. . Problem-solver. . Self-starter, takes initiative. . Fluency in local languages.
