Dear All,
Greetings from Blind Graduates' Forum of India (BGFI). As part of our Monthly Knowledge Sharing Session, this time we take pleasure in inviting you to a demonstration of the usability of touch-screen Android phones using the free in-built screenreader "Talkback". As phones with Symbian operating systems are no longer being manufactured and phones with physical keyboards are a rarity, we are gradually switching to touch-screen phones with Android operating system since they are an accessible and cheaper alternative as compared to an iPhone. The idea of using a touch-screen phone grips many blind people with fear. But once you will have attended this session in which a panel of blind persons making use of different brands of phones will be exhibiting the usability of a touch-screen phone, you are sure to walk home with enthusiasm and confidence of using touch-screen devices. The following points are expected to be covered: a.. Answering calls. b.. Rejecting unwanted calls. c.. Dropping received call. d.. Reading caller info. e.. Dialing numver. f.. Dialing from contact. g.. Adding, updating and deleting contacts. h.. Setting up a conference. i.. Using i v r. j.. Reading, writing and sending sms. k.. Using email client to write and read emails. l.. Moving mails to folders and setting rules. m.. Using browser and navagating by elements, n.. Searching and installing apps from the Play Store. o.. Using newspaper app like times of india. Those who wish to bring along their Android phones are requested also to cary their earphones/headphones. Since there are time constraints and a lot to be covered, we would be unable to provide individual attention. The session will start at 3:00 PM sharp.
