Hi Pranav,

The problem seems to have resolved itself. This morning due to some other
issues  with the connection, the service provider changed something on my
connection. I guess that helped break the embargo. The problem was
definitely because of a setting from their end which has made my IP static
instead of dynamic. I am thus unable to log off and log in to my connection.
they assure me they will sort that out for me, so I feel more in control the
next time something like this hits me.

Thanks everyone who gave me solutions, it gave me a perspective and
direction to pursue the matter.
