Thanks a tonne sir for your nice description! Sounds interesting. I am very much interested to be updated regarding those smart cane. My little suggestion is that as this cane is in developing stage, you may also want to test this cane in hill area.

Subject: Re: [AI] smart cane Dear raju, You heard it right! Smartcane can indeed detect stuff much before the collision and can warn you in advance using different vibration paterns conveying your distance from the obstacle so as to enable you to take a corrective action. However, the product is in its developmental stage and is currently undergoing the final validation trials in different cities of India. The Smartcane device is jointly being developed by Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Saksham Trust Delhi, and Phoenix Medical Systems Chennai. We are almost done with the validation trials and the product should be available in the market by early 2014. For updates on the same, please get in touch with Saksham Trust helpline on: 01164650655 For any queries or doubts, please feel free to write to me at satg...@saksham.org With best regards, Satguru Rathi | Assistive Technology Expert Saksham Trust 486 double story building, New Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi-110060. Subject: [AI] smart cane Respected sirs, After listening the todays episode of najar yaa najjariya, I am also curious to know that does those type of smart cane are available in any dealers in India like saksham for sell? I felt It was really intresting and important device at least for me cause I use my normal cane on a regular basis wherever I want to go like colleges, markets, etc and here in our town, there is no any facilities for public buses, auto rikshaw, etc, so that we have to use our foot wherever we want to go. Cause the place I am residing is the hill area, so that we have to face lots of obstacles like irregular steps, large drain, etc to reach our destination. Although I am quite comfortable with my normal stick, but some one has describe in this episode that this type of sticks consists of such special senser which helps us to detect such obstacles earlier. And it was really amazing. I also wanted to purchase those stick if available. Thanks in advance!
