Hello Sir,
Let me once again congratulate you for your sincere efforts for
developing different language tools for enhancing the accessibility of
the Indian visually impaired community. I am also grateful to you for
considering my requests while reviewing Telugu vachak and Telugu
varnamala. Telugu pronunciation is drastically improved. Still one or
two phonemes should be modified in Telugu vachak. It is working fine
with NVDA and JAWS. I have noticed that there are few conflicts if
both E speak and Telugu vachak are installed in one computer. However,
your vachak is very easy to use and configure. It is the best
available tool for reading Telugu. Your Varnamala is absolutely fine.
It is comparatively better than Telugu inscript keyboard. It has no
conflicts with screen readers. Common keyboard layout for all Indian
languages is noble idea. I think there is no problem for assigning
common keys for consonants of all Indian languages. But Frequency of
vowels may differ from language to language. Therefore, I think there
is a need for re-assignment of vowel keys particularly short ā€˜e’ and
short ā€˜o’ in Telugu. Is it possible to assign same key for Telugu
vowel and matru sounds?
May I request the Telugu users to kindly promote Telugu vachak and
varnamala and to share observations. Please contact me if you face any
issues while installing and using Telugu vachak and varnamala.
With thanks and regards,
Janardhana Naidu.
