Hi, Switching to free AVG from Microsoft security essential is not good idea. Though I understand your concern of accessibility but the main objective of anti-virus must be understood. You have to choose among two antivirus where one is inferior but accessible and other is superior but less accessible. Do not forget just installing an antivirus is sufficient. It must work. Compare the efficiency and performance but not only accessibility. I do not think you need a daily access to such softwares. Once a setting is made, no need to access it. There is not zero access of Microsoft security essential. Set it in automatic update once a week or so. After that, you need to access it rarely.
Mind that to pet a cat which does not kill a rat is worthless.
