No Ketan, I have to disagree there. The struggle to prevent this ordinance is one of immediate relevance. Because if this ill-thoughtout ordinance goes through, then it could put the very struggle for a more inclusive bill in serious trouble. All that the next government might do is to get the law as such approved in parliament at the earliest so that there is continuity, and that will be our chance to shape the bill in a better way going down the drainage. And if the ordinance is not transformed into law at the earliest, then we might end up in a face where we would lose the institutional mechanisms provided by the PWD Act, and no adequate replacements in their place. And of course, every disability leader has to earn the credentials and credibility by standing with the sector in the face of adversity regardless of ideological differences. Not only should they stand with the community, they have to be perceived to be doing so.
