One of the precautions I take is to sign twice on the cheque and put my mobile number at the back. Sometimes the bank has called me to confirm the payment.

Subject: Re: [AI] Signature issue The problem is when your signature gets forged, how is the bank going to know when it is genuine and when fake. If the bank clears a cheque when it is forged, the bank has to takeresponsibility for that transaction. Therefore, when the signature does not match they have to return the cheque with a remark of signature mismatch.
