About the Seminar
Education is the crucible in which innovations are forged. Promoting
creativity and incentivizing innovations through our educational
institutions, is a first step towards broadening and deepening the impact of
innovations in our society and economy. In large scale education systems
such as ours, catering to a vast population with relatively limited
resources, this is a major challenge forged. At the same time, with rapid
advances in new technologies, changing needs of the economy and the very
presence of the challenges identified above, the sector itself presents a
fertile ground for pioneering innovations.
Recognizing the fundamental role of education in nurturing and fostering an
ecosystem of innovation, K. J. Somaiya College of Education, Training and
Research is engaged in a series of initiatives to encourage innovations in
existing educational set up-as well as promoting new instructional designs
and innovative platforms for knowledge creation, dissemination and
application. This seminar will subscribe to a broad understanding of
innovation in education in order to provide a national platform for
academics and practitioners from different backgrounds to create knowledge
and exchange ideas on this important issue. It is keen to explore diversity
in the current and future education landscape worldwide, how innovation and
diversity may be an integral part of a coherent and powerful classroom,
school or education system strategy, and the tensions involved in pursuing
innovation while maintaining quality assurance .

A. Technological Innovations in Education: Technology has revolutionized the
present Educational scenario. This theme seeks to explore the role of
technology in creating new learning spaces for the digital age learners.
This sub-theme includes but is not limited to:

B. Innovation for Inclusion: This sub- theme seeks to establish the
dialogue between the ground reality and possibilities of providing
equitable learning opportunities to the differently abled learners. This
sub-theme includes but is not limited to:
.. Technology Enhanced learning for students with special needs
. Catering to the Learning Diversities (students with special needs
including the gifted, those with multiple intelligences and diverse learning
styles, diverse cultural backgrounds
C. Innovative Instructional Strategies : This sub-theme provides wide
platform to the practitioners for presenting their contribution to the
innovative practices in Education. This sub-theme includes but is not
limited to:
. Active Learning
. Concept mapping
. Site based Learning
. Theme based Learning
. Instruction to Develop Higher Order Thinking skills
. Creativity / Divergent Thinking
. Critical Thinking
. Infusion of Values
. Developing Life Skills & Soft Skills
. Using Innovative Evaluation Methods ,
. Different Mentoring strategies and Counseling Measures
. New Courses introduced, if any.
We invite papers on any of the above mentioned themes. Contributions are
expected to explore the Educational significance of the questions emerging
within, from educationists, practitioners in education and students of
education. Authors are advised to limit their contributions to 2500-3000
words. Papers should be prepared for blind review, and sent along with a
100-words abstract on or before 22nd of March 2014.The papers may be sent
either through email to:

Format for sending your paper..
A top sheet containing the following information must be affixed to each
contribution:
(i) Author Name(s)
(ii) Title of the Paper
(iii) Designation and Institutional Affiliation
(iv) E-mail ID.
The document should be saved in the name of the author (first author's name
in case of
joint authors). Please send the documents using M S Word format ( 2007) ,
font size 12 for text and 14 for headers, single spaced and justified .
