All this is completely myth, at least at this point of time and quite not
sure as to how long it'll take to become this a reality. And even it
becomes, how
long it'll sustain. I being the faculty member of it, know the reality and
don't believe in media fantasy. Ramjs has a history of many things started
with lot of enthusiasm but those ones didn't last even for a year! These
days, media people can write whatever way they are dictated without making
any effort on their part to verify the information being served to them!
This is another way to prepare the students to shell out some more money
just in the name of facilities being provided.

Subject: [AI] FYI: Facilities galore for Ramjas College students

I'm glad to know my great ulma mata is making amazing strides in
technology and has mulled to make things quite accessible.
Please circulate among Ramjas students.
A professional counsellor, a healthcare centre, medical insurance and
an information system to access all faculty and student information as
well as submit class assignments from home.

All these and more facilities will now be available to Ramjas College
students. There is no university statute that compels any college to
provide these facilities.

"Students who fall sick or are hurt on college campus have insurance
up to Rs.10,000. We have our own clinic, which operates from 9 a.m. to
5 p.m., with a nurse and a doctor on call," said Principal Rajendra
Prasad.

The new four-year undergraduate programme, which has made it mandatory
for every student to be involved in extra-curricular activities,
including sports, had compelled the college to make it compulsory for
every student to get a medical test done once a year.

The new "Student Information Services' system will have information
regarding every student's physical and mental health records. This
will remain confidential and accessible only to the student.

"Automated SMSs will be sent to students whenever there is a
notification regarding dates for submitting exam forms, exam
schedules, interesting events that the college may be organising and
even a change in the time-table. Student need not come and read the
notice-board to know what is happening within the college and they
need not come physically to submit their assignments. They can just
download them on to the system which the teacher can then access,"
said Dr. Prasad.

He said paper work and never-ending administrative chores are sought
to be simplified with the new information system. Every student and
faculty member has been given a special password to access it.

"Students can log in and access any information about themselves from
the time they applied for a seat until their last mark-sheet," he
said. Teachers can access their service books, which keep a record of
their attendance, and their monthly payslips.
