Dear friend, I don't know to use NVDA, but with jaws with office 2010 to insert shape, please follow these commands: Please press Alt plus N to activate insert tabs and for shape press alphabet SH. Once you are in shape select the shape which you'd like to select and then press ctrl enter to apply it.
