Hi. I am researching on the same topic. On the whole Linux is not very accessible or it doesn't have as advanced screen readers. In terms of accessibility, Windows is better. However to access the power of Linux, there are two distributions specially designed for the visually impaired/disabled; namely Vinux and Sonar. I am currently trying to learn both the distributions and decide which one is better Also, have a look at Zipspeak, a talking mini-distribution. Please do share with me if you make any progress in learning Linux or discovering something new and interesting.
