Dear all, This time when I and my wife (also visually impaired) went to the poling booth in Central Chennai along with sighted assistance, we were given a braille sheet with the list of candidates and parties; and the corresponding serial numbers were marked in braille on EVM. To our great surprise, and without any hindrance by anyone in the booth, we could excercise our voting rights to our fullest satisfaction! But in all previous times, whenever we went to poling booth with a sighted person, the authorities over there would just take our thumb impression, and somebody else in the centre (according to his/her own choice) would cast vote, not even allowing the helper we take along. Same thing would happen while voting on ballotsheet. This time because of the installation of surveillance cameras in the poling centres, I think such fraudulent incidents would have been prevented.
Hope some of you would have undergone the same experience like us. We welcome your views on this.
