Introduction to the Program:

The TOT (Training of Trainer) program is being conducted for the
teachers/trainers of different schools, NGOs & individuals who will
provide training on Computers, Employability & Life Skills training
for visually impaired children & adults.

This program was launched to enhance the teaching skills of the
trainers in various aspects of computer skills, Employability & Life
Skills.

Conceptual Background:

IT and computers is the biggest enabler for the educated persons with
vision impairment. It has a deeper impact for the persons with vision
impairment than for persons without disability.

Computer education for the persons with vision impairment enables them
in their basic education, higher education, research, daily living and
employment.

Along with academic qualification, a student would have to possess
many other skills for the job like technical skills, right attitude,
exposure to real world, job & work environment awareness, overcoming
disability, handling stress, managing conflict etc. Candidates those
who possess these skills are called as “EMPLOYABLE” candidates.

In the present scenario we see many candidates who have good academic
qualifications are not necessarily “EMPLOYABLE” candidates.

When it comes to a person with disability the challenges are more. In
the current competitive job market the person with disability need to
be more efficient, with excellent skills set, attitude to overcome
disability, exposure to right assistive aids & solutions etc. to
become employable.

EnAble India has designed & developed courses on Computers,
Employability and Life Skills for visually impaired to make the
candidate a finished product. This course is derived from 14+ years of
EnAble India’s experience in training & employment of persons with
disabilities.

The TOT program aims at building the capacity of the trainers of
various institutions/NGOs/Schools to conduct the Computer,
Employability & Life Skills courses effectively. The Tot serves as an
orientation to the teaching methodology, best practices in
employability training, teaching aids and tools used in the training.
