I have also faced many a dog attacks on the streets especially when I
started using the cane regularly.
Think, use of the cane attracts their attention towards us and then it
becomes really tensed. Even now, this is a big deterrent for me to use
the cane.
Sometimes, there are more than two or three dogs. It is very difficult
to just stand there like a statue and let them go away.
However, due to my little site, I have instinctively tried to kick
them to death. Though this is not the best practice. If I keep
walking, they have chased or followed me for really long distances.
Without knowing how far they are behind you, it becomes really
distracting to even judge the other obstrucles and pits. It becomes
doubly dangerous as once I have almost fallen into a pit due to fear.
Yet, this threat really exists as there are dogs everywhere lying on
the pavements and pedestrian walk ways.

Guess, each blind person should only travel by a shoffer driven car
henceforth!!
