I think, implimenting george's suggestion will not change, even if a rupee note falls in water.

Keshav.

If the dots will not last, having dots or Braille is not a good idea. In my
view sizes and shapes is the way to go.

Marking on notes is very necessary but it is not necessary that the marking
should be a braille numaric codes. We can have a single dot for rs 10, 2
dots for 20, 3 dots for 50, 4 dots for 100 5 dots for 500 and 6 dots for
1000. and the vide publicity can be given for these markings through mass
media.

Hello!
I also think that a remarkable difference in shape and size for both
currency notes and coins will be the best solution for all visually
impaired persons, no matter whether he / she knows braille or not,
whether he / she is partially sighted or not, whether he / she is
literate or illiterate etc.

Dear Colleagues,

We are happy to inform you that yet again,
one of the initiatives taken by this Confederation for facilitating
accessibility to persons with visual impairment, is receiving active
attention
from the concerned authorities. This
initiative launched by us relates to enabling visually impaired persons
to
recognize with ease various currency notes and coins. We had moved
the office of the Chief
Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities for getting appropriate
affirmative
action in the matter.

As a result, we have now received the good
news that a meeting is being convened by the Ministry of Finance,
Department
of
Economic Affairs under the Chairmanship of the Joint Secretary (C &
C). The meeting will take place on 21st August, 2014 at 11.00 a.m.
and will deliberate upon the following issues:

     i. Introduce Braille-like
signs/blind marks in currency;
and
ii. Review of the shape and size of coins.

It will be a great help if you would kindly
let us have your suggestions/inputs on the above two issues by email so
as
to
reach us by 11.00 a.m. on 20th August. While doing so, you should not
forget a large
number of illiterate blind persons living in rural as well as urban
areas.
