Hi. Skype is not very user friendly, I agree, but it is certainly quite accessible. I use NVDA with Skype, without any sort of scripts or plugin, and find Skype quite usable. Just keep tabbing and shift tabbing around quickly and you will sooner or later reach wherever you want to reach. By the way, I had heard that JAWS 15.0 does not require the scripts for most parts, because the Skype JAWS scripts have been incorporated into JAWS itself. I do not have further knowledge about this since I have never used it.
