On enquiring, the person in surat who runs the coaching centre told me that this technique of reading without seeing can only be learned by children in the age group 6- 14 yrs. and not beyond that. The reason he gave was till the age of 14, logic is not developed and you being older, have developed logic and cannot learn the technique. But when I searched the net, I found that it is a Japanese technique practiced over years by the young and old.
