there is a command to readout the formula which is ctrl+jaws key+f2. in the
earlier versions of MS office 2007, it was only ctrl+f2. worth note: if you
are using laptop keyboard layout then you would have to pres capslock or
your customised jaws key even though if you use the external keyboard.

You are right. by pressing we can go to the beginning of that particular
cell.
I dont know why you asked to press ctrl+home. What action will be
performed by pressing ctrl+home?

just press f2. The current cell will be in edit mode. Press the arrow
keys and know the text. By default, the cursor lies at the end. Press
home key, it will go at beginning and press control+hone, it will go
to the beginning of the cell text.
