Applications are also being invited for courses in French, German, Arabic, Russian, Persian, Urdu, Hindi, English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, economic studies and planning, historical studies (ancient history, medieval history, modern history), political studies, regional development (geography, economics and population studies), social systems (sociology), molecular biology, genetic engineering, plant biotechnology, physical sciences, chemical sciences, mathematical sciences, visual studies, theatre and performance studies and cinema studies. These programmes are being offered by various schools of the university, including School of International Studies, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, School of Social Sciences, School of Environmental Sciences, School of Life Sciences and School of Arts and Aesthetics. All the programmes offered by this varsity are interdisciplinary. Candidates must note that 27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates (non-creamy layer), 15% and 7.5% of seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates respectively in all programmes of study. Three per cent seats are reserved for persons with disability (with a minimum of 40% disability). All SC, ST and persons with disability candidates who have passed and/or are appearing in the qualifying examination are eligible to appear in the entrance examination irrespective of their percentage of marks. A candidate can apply either online or offline. For online application, candidates can apply online on payment of prescribed fee by logging on to www.jnu.ac.in. Aspirants can also check the university website for information on detailed eligibility criteria for various programmes. The minimum standard requirement is that a candidate must have completed a bachelor's degree from a recognised university or institution. The deadline for submitting online and offline application forms is March 20, 2015, and March 25, respectively.
