Hi, yes you are right that a TTS must suit the accents of a particular language which it belongs. More over, if in native human tone, it is far better. However, the written script is a must. for TTS. It first needs text then produces the speech. But the grammatical rule and the vocabulary used for human understanding are not governing factor. Just the alphabet, written pattern and the phonology of an individual character and combination of characters is the key factor. Though it may be incorrect/inaccurate tone; If you can read Marbadi literature by Hindi TTS then it is written in Devanagari.
