 A 72-year-old rape victim, who is hearing and speech impaired,
identified her tormentor in court today using the sign language and
narrated the trauma she went through. The woman, who was allegedly
raped by a 28-year-old youth last year, faced great difficulty in
expressing herself due to her handicap. An expert was also roped in by
the court to provide assistance to the woman and later the judge, too,
called her to her seat for recording statements as she was hesitant.
 The woman's deposition was also video-graphed by the court.
 According to the case registered last year, the elderly woman was
raped by her 28-year-old neighbour Om Parkash Misra. A complaint in
the matter was submitted by the elderly woman's son following which a
case was registered.
 The proceedings in the court were recorded in-camera. The elderly
identified the accused and also explained what all had happened with
her. The defence counsel also completed her cross-examination. The
72-year-old was not able to understand some of the questions, which
the court recorded in her statements.
 According to the police case, Om Prakash was employed with a cable
company in Chandigarh and went to the residence of the woman around 9
pm on October 31, 2014. He took the complainant's mother out for a
walk. However, when the accused did not return with the elderly woman
for long, the complainant went looking for him. The complainant told
the police that he had found the accused raping his mother at a park
near the government school in Secto
