According to police, both the deceased were in the district to attend a public function at the Blind School in Varkala.
The incident occurred when the duo were catching the return train from Anchuthengu where they had visited a mutual friend. Though Bijo was rushed to the hospital he could not be saved, while the body of Shaji was recovered from the railway track on Sunday morning. The bodies have been returned to the family of the deceased after autopsy at the Government Medical College here, police said. The incident follows a similar incident at Thrissur a fortnight ago when two blind people were killed after a KSRTC bus rammed onto them.
