Two visually-challenged individuals have lost their lives after being
hit by a train at the Kadakkavoor railway station here late on
Saturday night.

The deceased were identified as Bijo Varghese and Shaji Daniel from
Tiruvalla and Seethathodu respectively in Pathanamthitta district.
According to police, both the deceased were in the district to attend
a public function at the Blind School in Varkala.

The incident occurred when the duo were catching the return train from
Anchuthengu where they had visited a mutual friend.

Though Bijo was rushed to the hospital he could not be saved, while
the body of Shaji was recovered from the railway track on Sunday
morning.

The bodies have been returned to the family of the deceased after
autopsy at the Government Medical College here, police said.

The incident follows a similar incident at Thrissur a fortnight ago
when two blind people were killed after a KSRTC bus rammed onto them.
