Uhm I think I got this one figured out. Apparently Access had a
"problem" with my query having duplicate fields in the result.

So I have this query which, if I open it directly, is updateable. BUT
when I make this same the the data source for my form, it's NOT
updateable. "Allow edits" = true and "data entry" = false so that's
not the problem. And the data resides on a sql server backend.
