This is the first one that stumped me in a while. I am using an Excel
workbook with three worksheets; each worksheet is dynamically linked
via OLEDB to an access database on a server. Each worksheet is set to
refresh on open. The workbook itself is linked to a website so when
the user double clicks on the link, the workbook appears on their
station.

The problem revolves around the refresh on open aspect. When the
workbook opens a message box appears that asks the user "Data file
C:\myfolder\myfile.mdb not found. Would you like to connect
to "http://myserver/myfolder/myfile.mdb" instead?" If the answer
is "yes" the workbook updates automatically and all is well. If the
answser is "cancel", no update occurs. If the answer is "no" ....well
lets not go into that.

My question is this: How does the Excel program know of the existence
of the database at the server site? That is where is the various
properties assoicated with the spreadsheets or associated queries can
I find this key and change it? I know of the connection and
commandtext and can change them via VBA. However, this is my first
foray onto the web as a data publisher and I have been unable to
address (if you will excuse a small pun) the problem.

If I cannot get an answer to this one I will be force to abandon
Access and move the app to SQL Server ( a fate worse than death so
take pity).

Thx

Mik
