Situation: I utilize a pass through query to SQL server as part of an automated routine. Each iteration (query) through SQL server takes between 20 - 30 seconds. This does not harm the users' computer, they are able to do anything they want, but when returning to the program to check on its progress, they must wait until the current query completes on the server side. Anywhere from 1 - 30 seconds.
Question: Is there a way to write a routine in such a way, when it passes through to another database, SQL, Oracle, etc. via MS-Access, that I can have the program appear (form with progress bar) without having to wait for an iteration to complete? In other words, I would like the user to see the program immediately when they alt + tab, whether than having to wait 20+ seconds. Thanks for any ideas or explanations.
