Subject: NEWS: ACCMAIL FAQ Changing of the Guard

I'm very pleased to announce that Gerry Boyd, our esteemed moderator,
has accepted ownership of the ACCMAIL FAQ. After maintaining "Dr. Bob's
Guide to Offline Internet Access" for almost five years, I am ready to
turn it over to another. It's been my pleasure to make this information
available and work with over 30 volunteer translators over the past
years, but I no longer have time to do so.

Look for a new, improved ACCMAIL FAQ V8.0 soon from Gerry!

Regards,
Bob Rankin

Subject: Why I cannot retrieve web page ?

Dear Mr. Gerry Boyd and everyone,

I have a serious problem with my Outlook Express for Win 98. I cannot use
it to retrieve any web page via Email.

For example: I want to retrieve Web page
http://www.howtolearn.com/personal.html using [EMAIL PROTECTED] or
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ,...

But the their results are the same, as follow:

????????????????????????7????????????
?????????????????????????????
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
????????????????????????????????4????????????????4??????????5???????????
???????????????????????????????????4?????????????????????????????????????
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
?5??????????????????????????????????????????????????5????????????????????
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
?????????????????????????
????????????????????????????????????????
??????????????
????????????????????????8???
?????????????????????????????
?????????????????????
????????????7?????????????????????????????
????????????????????????????????????????????????????
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I do not know why it is (since it is not to be decoded or zipped).

So, could you please what I have to do to overcome this problem ?

Thank you a lot in advance

N. Trung

Hi ACCMAIL'ers,

In a previous ACCMAIL I found this remark..

Ok, done that.
Now this is the reply..

>> From: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
>> 1: join statistics
>> No such list.
>> Completed processing request at Sat, 23 Jan 1999 10:42:11 +0000

Disapointing, no?

Does anyone know how to get this list? (if it exists at all..).

CU,
Hans.

Accmailers.

As you saw from Bob Rankin's nice note, I have taken over as the
ACCMAIL FAQ maintainer. I just put out a new version 8.0 and tried to
get it totally uo-to-date but probably missed some items. I'd
appreaciate feedback on anything that needs to be fixed. You will see
that it looks the same as "Dr. Bob's" and I intend to keep it that way
as I'm most familiar with the format.

I also moved all the documents to my Netcom site and added a simple
autoresponder using Procmail (which will need to be improved).

Just send an email message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the phrase:
send filename (where filename is the name of the file you wish to
retrieve)
typed on the Subject line ... **NOT** in the message area. Just leave
the body (message area) blank.

Here's an example for retrieving the "index" which lists all files
currently on this server:

        To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: send index <-- NOTE: ALL lower case!

Is there something (that can be sent via E-mail) you think would be
of interest (or useful) to others? If so, drop me a note and tell me
where the file can be obtained.

NOTE: I have a 5Mb limit on my site so I can't put everything on the
autoresponder (:>)

Sure looks like a settings problem. Try...
Select "Tools" then click on "Options..."
     Click on "Send" tab
In the "Mail sending format" and "News sending format" sections,
click on
     "Plain Text" in both places
In the "Mail sending format" sections, click on "Settings... next
to Plain text"
In the "Plain Text Settings" window
          Set Message format as MIME
Set "Encode text using:" to None.
Uncheck the "Allow 8-bit characters in headers"
Set Automatically wrap text at 72
Check the box in front of "Indent original text with > when
replying or
          forwarding"
          Click OK
While still in the "Send" tab, Uncheck "Reply to messages using
the format in
     which they were sent"
Click on "OK" and on "OK" again.

Subject: TRUNCATED DIGESTS

Most of my recent Accmail digests (at least 3 or 4 a week) have been arriving
badly truncated, sometimes after the second or third message. I've contacted my
ISP who've informed me that it's nothing to do with them, and must have happened
somewhere else along the line!

Does anybody else have these problems? And is there anything which can be done
about it? It's really most annoying - I know I can get the missing parts from
the archives but it's not quite the same as receiving them immediately.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Press Ctrl+F3 for raw source of message -> you can read the message.
This is caused by unallowed characters in headers. OE is confused by them.

Hello Sen,

Seek-n-Find is a brand new mailing list. I didn't count them, but I
think during the past days I got about 5-10 messages per day.

However, once you're subscribed to the list, you can set to digest by
sending a blank e-mail to:

  [EMAIL PROTECTED]

This works for every mailing list at http://www.onelist.com
You'll get one big message every 24 hours or so.
