Subject: Search for mailing lists at ONElist

Just found a way to do a simple search-by-email for mailing lists at
ONElist. ONElist is hosting a lot of free mailing lists on every
conceivable subject.

Example:

You are looking for a mailing list at ONElist about dogs.

Send the following message to a www4mail server.

  TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
  SUBJECT: {You may leave this blank}
  BODY: GET http://www.onelist.com/searchlist.cgi?searchval=dogs

* Replace the word "dogs" by a subject of your own choice *

You'll receive descriptions of the first twenty mailing lists about
dogs.

If you're interested in the next twenty mailing lists about dogs,
you'll find a new search string at the bottom of the returned
document. Send this new string to a www4mail server using the GET
command, just like the above example.

A list description will look like this:

[7]Bark [English] [Safe for Kids] [8]Similar lists
Hello! I'm 15 years old, and recently begun a mailing list
about dogs. This list is for all people who love dogs.

If you like the description of the mailing list and you want to
subscribe by e-mail, look for the first word on the first line. That
is the listname. In the above case the listname is: Bark

To subscribe to this (fictitious) Bark mailing list, send a blank
e-mail to:

  [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Once subscribed, other available e-mail commands are:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe from the list.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] - switch your subscription to digest mode.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] - switch your subscription to normal mode.

In the above examples you must replace the word "Bark" by an existing
listname.

Hope this helps.

Subject: Fax to email gateway

We have all come across the free email-to-fax services on the web (primarily
TPC.int) but here's a new twist: a free fax-to-email service!

Check out http://www.efax.com/

How it works:

Upon signing up at the web page, user is allotted a fax number and a PIN
(identification) number. A small fax-viewer application is also emailed to
the user's address. Now faxes to the allotted number will be emailed to the
user with the fax as an attachment which can be viewed, printed and
forwarded using the fax-viewer application. User can maintain account
information using the efax number and PIN.

Since the server is up 24/7, you have a permanent on-line fax machine for
free!

But:

The fax number is located in USA (Illinois I think) so anyone wishing to
send you a fax would probably need to pay long-distance telephone charges
unless they are nearby...

I wish similar services would be offered by our local ISPs :-{

It's going to be very difficult by E-mail methods because the site uses
frames. However, to start, retrieve the main web page by using a
www4mail server.

Non windows users and those that don't want the 130k attachment can
opt to get the messages in TIFF format (similar to GIF, JPG, PNG,
etc). Just select your OS as "Non Windows" (even if you do use
windows).

When a signed up about a week ago, I told some friends and we got
different area codes. I got 815 and someone else got 630. Which area
code did you get?

I got confused answer from this ftp server. The CD or CHDIR command always
split w/ the directory.
Is it because of the long of directory name given?

TIA

I have already used this service, unfortunately it mailed me with an
attachment in .html format.
BTW, I feel this is the fastest service.
Thanks to Dr. Thomas Waechter for his kindness.
