Wouldn't it just be easier to do an archie search? That would be my
suggestion.

        I suppose it is not your fault. I had the same problem with some
files.
I Think it depends on how download site is responses to www4mail.
Sometimes www4mail unerstand rar-files as shtml-pages :-) and so on.
        About recovery. I hope you will be luckier then me. But you need to
know
the size of requested file. As for me I've got files little less in size
then original
(after removing headers).
        Abou tsource I don't know maybe it work.
        I think we should deal with owners of www4mail and it's author.
As I know they really care about quolity of service.

Just wondering if Bellanet.org's defunct already? All the requests I've
sent the server got bounced back to me. Any more www4servers who're
gonna join the 'defunct' club?

Use archie by mail, sending the following message:

        To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (or other archie server)
        Subject:    find  name_of_the_file

In any case, with the little message above you can obtain good results.
But if you want to use the several options and variables of the archie servers,
you can ask a help file sending a message with "help" to an archie server.

You can select others archie servers from the list of servers of G. Boyd, at:
        http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1236/servers.html#archie

for example:
        [EMAIL PROTECTED]      [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        [EMAIL PROTECTED]      [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        [EMAIL PROTECTED]      [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        [EMAIL PROTECTED]                  [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        [EMAIL PROTECTED]           [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Each archie server will give you a little diferent results.
The best procedure is to send the same mail to two or three archie servers,
because some of them may be busy or out of service by the moment.

The results will be in the form:
        file: the_target_file_name
        host:  xxxxx.yyy.zz
        dir:  aaa/bbbbbb/ccccc/etc
        and other data as: date, bytes, and some unix variables.

Subject: What is required to set up a www4mail/getweb?

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi List,

I have a more practical question: What would be required to set up an
www4mail or an getweb server (which of both is better)?? I mean stuff like
recommended hardware, bandwith etc. I help out in a med-sized company,
perhaps I can convince them :)= BTW what is the expected traffic / day??

Thx!
JMP

Try with gopher mail, its very good and quickly for binary files.

There are three gopher mail servers:
                        [EMAIL PROTECTED]
                        [EMAIL PROTECTED]
                        [EMAIL PROTECTED]

-- For ftp send mail to a gopher mail server, with any subject and
Body:

Split=0
Name= name_of_ the_ file
Type=9                                                >>> 0=text   1=directory
9=binary
Port=70
Path=ftp:ftp.zzz.xxx@/111/222/333/file_name.zip    >>>host@/path/file
Host=gopher.eunet.cz

-- For http send mail to a gopher mail server, with any subject and
Body:

Split=0
Name= name_of_ the_file
Type=9                          >>> "Type=9" :binary , "Type=0": text file
Port=80
Path=GET /1111/22222/file_name.zip
Host=www.zzzzzzz.xxxx

With ANY server that you are not familiar with, the first message should
have the word help in the subject and the body.

In the case of the current [EMAIL PROTECTED], the subject is ignored,
but "help" in the body will send you the help file.

The "..." points are places that I cut info out (I do not want to be too
verbose) but this may help others that may have faced bans from this
server too.
