thanks claude

it's true, and especially helpful for me,
as its the only one i can reach thru my home server's new firewall

how can i up my weekly quota to more than two hits?
(i'm a spoiled www4 user and used to 200 a week)
do you have an email to send to a real person there?

any others perhaps not on the list?

thanx all,
mike in havana

oh yeah.
cant get a help request thru to the [EMAIL PROTECTED] server
for a pseudonymous email address (another way to solve my prob)

any other ideas?

for those of y'all who're wondering, what has happened is that
my local server has taken it upon itself to beef up www4's
already excellent filters and firewalls + weekly quota to keep
down abusive behavior, and has shut off all access to the www4's
ahoras, etc. actually the only i've been able to get thru to
is the diminutive getweb folks

Subject: Get Selected Document doesn't work sometimes

Hi
  I usually use [EMAIL PROTECTED] to retrieve web pages.
But sometimes when I receive a requested page (modified by www4mail)
, the "GET SELECTED DOCUMENTS" doesn't response to my mouse click!
even the "SUBMIT" commands boxes. :-(

Please help me and tell what causes this specific problem.
Thanks in advance

Yes. I wrote about it in my posting:

Search for it in ACCMAIL's archive.

You probably think that your use of redirectors is cool. But you
didn't realise that you post to ACCMAIL list. For accmailers to
make their way through redirector's frames, Javascript, HTML errors
discourage them. So nobody here will see your pages. If you want
for people to look to your page then write direct URL of _one_ page,
with neither frames nor Javascript. I once had to go through the da.ru
redirector, now I usually just ignore people who use it.

KISS (I hope you know what this _abbreviation_ means - if not, ask),

Lena
http://elena.stealth.ru   (it isn't redirector)

}Hello.
}

Hi, Andrei.

}I used gophermail server to access usenet as told in:
[snip]
}
}I received the answer in the following format:
}
}Mail this file back to gopher with an X before the menu items that you
want.
}If you don't mark any items, gopher will send all of them.
}
}
} 1. Group download in progress....
}      2.  REAL HARDCORE.
}
}skiped
}
}You may edit the following two numbers to set the maximum sizes after
which
}GopherMail should send output as multiple email messages:
}
}Split=27K bytes/message <- For text, bin, HQX messages (0 = No split)
}Menu=100 items/message <- For menus and query responses (0 = No split)
}
}
}#
[snip]
}skiped
}
}There were 200 usenet topics in this message from gophermail.
}

200? But the "Menu" setting above says to limit it to 100???

}QUESTIONS:
}
}1. How can I control the number of usenet topics gophermail send to me?

I am not sure, but I think the "Menu" setting above should limit it...

}2. How can I control the date of usenet topics? It means, that I need
only,
}let's say, last 20 fresh usenet topics. In the reply from gophermail I
got 200
}usenet topics any many of them seem to be old.

This I also can not help with...

}3. Is there any manual explaining the commands to access usenet via
gophermail.

(Gary: Don't you have one of these?)

}4. Why did gophermail send to me message consisting of 2 parts: first,
numbered
}usenet topics, second, lines starting with # (as above).
}

The first "part" is text. If you place an X in front of item[s] then sand
back THE WHOLE THING, including the # sections at the bottom, it should
send you back the items that you marked. This is the way that gophermail
was designed to work.

On the other hand, if you just send it the # blocks for the items that
you want, it should do the same. This allows sending a smaller message
to the server.

Even the first way, it NEEDS the data from the bottom in order to figure
out what to send you. It will NOT go back to the original message to
figure it out, but use the info that you send it.

But as more people get full access, even more are
getting partial access for the first time.

Many of these new users may not be familiar with
english, the de facto ACCMail language.

Possibly what is declining is not the number of
people who might benefit from ACCmail, but the
number of people who find out about it.

Sun Zoom Spark would be very interested to know
where new ACCMail subscribers get their information
about this list.

In fact, [EMAIL PROTECTED] translates Russian letters into
2-letter sequences.
If all you need is to fill complex subscribe form, you can get it via
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and
read both together or create your own "codepage" for this job.

The Accmail FAQ is posted in these newsgroups just about every 2 weeks:
alt.internet.services,
alt.online-service,
alt.bbs.internet,
alt.answers,
comp.mail.misc,
comp.answers,
news.newusers.questions,
news.answers

It is cataloged at Catalist, the searchable directory of listserv
mailing lists.
It is also listed at Liszt (the searchable directory of mailing lists)
It is listed at PAML (Publicly Accessible Mailing Lists)
It is also listed via Mailbase in the UK

Bellanet's web page lists us, so does the Italian www4mail server web
page.
The MiningCo web page about email lists us, as well as Mary
Houten-Kemps' Everything Email web page.

I also mention us on the Help-Net mailing list.

Odd de Presno's Online World resources handbook lists my web pages in
Chapter 12.

Fravia's reverse engineering web site and mirrors pays tribute to my
email search ideas and has links back to my web pages.

My servers.html is listed under just about every search engine, so is
the accmail FAQ.

I set the meta tags in my web pages for keywords concerning email
services. Maybe I need to rethink what terms people are using when they
use a search engine.

The Accmail FAQ is at rtfm.mit.udu, also in HTML format at Ohio state.
It is listed at faqs.org and the FAQs search sites.

Short answer -- you can't
Long answer -- see short answer
Even longer answer -- The only ftp site that allows email access is
Simtel, then only after you have received permission and an area has
been set up for you to upload. The only www sites that people have
updated by email methods are AngelFire and InternetTrash.

Accmailers,

Sorry about yesterday's posting of the help file for nym.alias.net. I
totally forgot about the Juno users and their mailbox limitation.
Hence, several Juno users probably didn't get all of the digest for
yesterday (06Jul99). You will have to wait until the log is complete
and then use the Binky mailer to retreive the accmail log in pieces.

BTW, I'm getting a DSL link. Earthlink and PacBell had an offer I
couldn't refuse. As soon as the PacBell man comes and installs the DSL
modem I'll have - Downstream speed of at least 384Kbps and up to
1.5Mbps and an Upstream speed of 128Kbps. Wow, can't wait to download
a file at T1 speedss!!!

Next on the list is my own domain... Then my own server and then...

Bummer, you get the same message from the web if you try to go there
directly. Stupid redirection and Javascript. I'm really getting tired
of this "junk". Can't anybody make a nice simple web page except me!!!

I downloaded all of them.

Write me offline and I'll send to you directly if you can receive large
mail messages. If not, we'll think of something.

BTW, this is *NOT* an inivitation to everbody else to ask me to get
files for them. This is just a courtesy because I felt like it.

Pretty shabby treatment if you ask me. Email only access and then ban
you from using email only servers.

I don't know if you remember or not but the [EMAIL PROTECTED]
server was free for only about 15 messages a week which is roughly 2
per day. The unlimited access was for a fee of US $5 per month. I tried
web access to the site but the Apache server documentation is still
there so I don't know if the site is back to full functional status yet.

The owner is Francis Peters <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> who last
contacted me in May and said he would announce the site when it was
fully functional.

I didn't. I used a browser and looked at the source code. I have added
all the language support modules for Win 98...

The one for Russian pages is: Pan European Language Support
"When you use Internet Explorer to view a Web site that is published in
a Central European, Cyrillic, Greek, Turkish, or Baltic language, this
language pack makes the specific language characters display correctly. "

Nice thing about this is that it works for Netscape to...

That's the trouble with redirectors. They use Javascript and other junk
which makes it difficult for email only users. Heck, If I have trouble
with a browser, just think what email only users have to go through.
When I check a web site with my browesr I turn off Java and graphics.
If the page doesn't appear or I get one of those idiotic messages about
my browser, I think the person that made the site doesn't know what
they are doing.

And graphic images without ALT tags are definitely the worse...

Accmailers,

The other day when I posted a message about archive postings for
Downloadslave.com, I said in part this:

>Subject: [leave blank]
>Body of message
>GET ACCMAIL POST 668, 669, 1767, 1775, 2389, 2410
