Hello Gerald,

None of the mailing list messages from Onelist that I receive in
"normal mode" (individual messages) has a hyperlink banner at the
*beginning* of the message. They all have an advert at the bottom.
However, the mailing list digests I receive from Onelist do have a
banner at the top of the digest.

Could it be that the list-owner of the list in question has put his
own banner there? This aside, I'd suggest you switch off all HTML
related options/features in your mail reader.

Two cents,
Frits Westra -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]

As far as I know, the answer to this will stay NO until they stop funding
themselves by selling copies of the standards.

At some point, some server may be created to return a copy of a document
in exchange for a credit card number, or some thing similar, but I would
not want to trust most accmail servers with that type of information.

There was a blerb about this on some of the lists. If you are in "any"
mode, it will send you the html ads, but "text only" mode will work
similar to before. Lets see if I can dig up the text... AH, here it is:

Subject: Administrative: Announcement from ONElist officials

Hello to all my members

ONElist officials have announced that they have activated HTML and
Banner ads for all subscribers that indicated they wished to receive
HTML e-mail when they signed up for membership to ONElist. The HTML
banner ads will also be received by those who indicated they had no
preference.

If you find you are receiving graphic banner ads in your SeeknFind
posts or digest and wish to stop it, you can log into your account at
ONElist and go into your Member Profile and change your HTML option to
text only.

To log into the Onelist member center, go to
http://www.onelist.com/myonelist/, and enter your email address and
your Onelist password. If you do not remember your password, you can
click the "Forgot password?" link, and the Onelist system will email
you an authorization code that will allow you to set a new password.
Once there, you can click the "Member profile" link near the top and
make your way to email preferences.

It appears that for those whom signed up for their lists by e-mail
only, they have a default setting of text only. Therefore, for those
subscribers, I do not expect you to see graphic banner ads in your list
messages.

So, let me hear from you if you have an opinion in this matter. You
may post to the list or e-mail me privately, as you wish.
