Still catching up on my email (2133 messages left on this account alone) and
just came across this UFAQ (Ultra-Frequently Asked Question). Seems to me
that either "And NO, you can't do an FTP upload by email." should be added
to the ACCMAIL sig or else some of our good subscribers here should make the
connections to get an FTPUPMAIL (how's that for a title?) software written
and a server set up somewhere! Maybe I'm just too much of a novice in
programming, but it seems doable (tho rather complex); just that nobody's
done it!

I made a run at it using the Italian WWW4MAIL server. Starting at
the domain I found the registration page. The registration is free.
But at the registration fill in page when, I submitted it there seems
to be a problem, as if the remote server isn't getting what it wants.
You may want to try it.

Subject: Re: Downloadslave registration - not proper & URLRequester is not for
email only
Dear Azeem (and all others with interest in this subject),
After seeing all the messages dated Oct 21 and 22 by you, Johannes and
Daniel, I tested Downloadslave by requesting URLs. I find that the "e-mail
only" use (that is without recourse to of the use of "URLRequester" program
) is not withdrawn, and it is definitely still feasible and working well as
usual. :-). But one may likely have more chances of rejection of requests
if the queue at the mail gateway gets longer and longer - perhaps that's
the reason they are stepping up the promo for URLRequester .
Further, on the postings of Johannes and Daniel, I wish to point out that
the Password is necessary even if one wishes to use "URLRequester". It is
clearly so indicated in the "Welcome to Downloadslave" message which
brings the password that it should be entered permanently in to
URLRequester under Properties .
I also think that new users should be able to get passwords assigned for
their e-mail addresses without any problems because :
Only on 20/10/99 (that is, just a day before your posting), I had sought a
registration from Downloadslave for my another recently setup new e- mail
address (which is part of an internet account I am evaluating at present ).
And for that blank message, without delay, I got two replies - first being
the same "automated response" message in german that you reported, in which
the use of URLRequester 3.0 program is mooted, as the mail gateway being
often at limit.
But the second reply, posted just a minute after that first, was the
"Welcome to Downloadslave" message giving the password for my new e-mail
address - the message body and the attachment INFO.TXT, both of which are
in german, are still the same. (The Info.Txt file is still dated
21.09.98). So other than the upgrade of URLRequester program to version 3.0
(which had been announced around October 1st), there is no indication of
any changes made to the procedure of getting the password !
So Azeem, if you have not still got the "Welcome to Downloadslave"
message giving you the password assigend for your e-mail address, then
there ought to be some other problem. Have you got the password yet ? Let
us know.
Sethu

For sites that don't explicitly state how to split a long URL over two
or more lines (many use the "\" character) I just set my email program
with word wrap turned off and a line length greater than 80 characters.
This seems to work well -- one long continuous line containing the URL.

Hello accmailers,
I requested a file from download slave but got the following reply. Can anyone help
me?:
Downloadslave has a delivery problem. Downloadslave got the following
replymail.
(Perhaps it helps to contact your provider and enhance your mailboxsize)
Attention:
If you receive these kinds of mail often,
Downloadslave will disable your E-Mailaccount automatically !!!
If this happens, you won't receive anything from Downloadslave, but
you have the possibility to enable your Account by yourself at
