Reading usenet by e-mail is getting to be about impossible without direct
connection to the Internet and a web browser. However, a few tricks can
still be used. One of these is to use the web site
http://www.news2mail.com/ with forms requested via a www4mail server.

news2mail is a website that allows you to subscribe to a newsgroup via
e-mail using your browser. So all we need to do is to mimic these actions
through the use of a www4mail server.

You need to specify the newsgroup and then get the subscription form for it
via the proper web page. For example, you may want to subscribe (or
unsubscribe) to comp.lang.perl.misc. The web page form is located here:
http://www.news2mail.com/comp/lang/perl/misc.html (all the newsgroups
follow this pattern, that is, use news2mail address, replace "." with "/"
and add ".html")

So your request to www4mail is:
To: www4mail server of your choice
Subject: [leave blank]
Body:
XFORMREPLY = TEXT
http://www.news2mail.com/comp/lang/perl/misc.html

List of active (and defunct) www4mail servers is located at:
http://www.expita.com/servers.html

When you get the form page you will also see a list of "free" or "open"
nntp servers that handle this newsgroup. You may wish to use one of these
nntp addresses and your newsreader program to see what is available. Note
also that most of these open servers do not allow posting.

If you don't know how to use forms via a www4mail server, then you can add
these commands to the above request:
HELP FORMS
HELP XFORM
HELP XFORMREPLY
