The change in the two commons-attributes jar version to "unknown"
- <version>SNAPSHOT</version> + <version>unknown</version>
is not correct and will prevent the upload to the repository on ibiblio. You have to choose a version number or SNAPSHOT.

You're right. I changed this because I'd just upgraded to Maven rc3 and the build seemed to be hanging at the attempt to download the commons attributes files. I thought it might be ignoring the jar overrides you'd set but I think it was a temporary problem with the network (I had to restart my connection shortly afterwards). The Spring build uses the same jars and is still working with RC3 so it must be OK.
