Thanks for the info. I will be getting mine today so for the time being I don't really have anything authoritative to say on this. I have however heard multiple reports that a BIOS upgrade is not necessary however updating to the most recent kernel will make suspend functional. Not sure on what models this is applicable but it's worth a shot.
The kernel upgrade and I guess what would be the timelime guide with Ubuntu, has been compiled by alvinator and is available at http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=7582206&postcount=86. This supposedly has suspend working. Another thing which I suggested in the thread but I do not know if anyone has been successful is building their custom DSDT (which is very easy on Ubuntu). If anyone is interested in trying this, please refer to http://gaugusch.at/kernel.shtml and http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=426684. For those of you that might not be familiar with the purpose of a custom dsdt: "A custom DSDT (Differentiated System Description Table) is useful when your computer uses ACPI but problems occur due to broken implementation. *snip*...Errors are often caused by vendors testing their hardware only with Windows or because there is code which is executed only on a specific OS with a specific version and Linux hasn't been considered during the development. If you succefully use an modified DSDT table, I highly recommend you to email your DSDT to the computer/motherboard vendor for inclusion in the next BIOS upgrade (and more Linux awareness in the future products). " I anticipate to have mine in my hands in around 5 hours. I'll be sure to post back on what works out of the box with my model, suspend, hibernate, etc. Regards, Andy P.S. Awesome idea on setting up this launchpad group.
