All, Recently both the DTN drafts related to BPv7 (over which the Node ID validation is performed) and the ACME draft for email validation (from which the Node ID validation takes its workflow) have progressed to the RFC Editor's queue, which is great!
I am updating the DTN Node ID validation from the last email-validation draft and including updated concrete examples. Because BPv7 uses CBOR and more easily supports bytestring encoding, the updated draft will use base64url encoding on ACME side but plain bytestring on the BP side to keep the encoding marginally smaller. ACME defines a canonical form so there should be no loss of information going either way and a concrete example should make this clear.
